Ridge Preservation/Socket Preservation

After a tooth extraction the jaw bone decreases in thickness and in volume. This bone loss can prevent the subsequent placement of a dental implant. Ridge Preservation is a procedure that after a tooth is removed a bone graft is placed in the whole where the tooth used to be. This bone graft helps the body build new bone to help prevent atrophy or thinning of the jaw bone after extraction and increases the chance of placing a dental implant.
